Thomas speaks at 2019 NCSEA Conf
November 22, 2019 — Matt Thomas, PE, principal and technical director of Meyer Borgman Johnson (MBJ), presented at the 2019 Structural Engineering Summit for the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) on Wednesday, November 13 in Anaheim, California.
His presentation, “Lateral Analysis Overview / A Closer Look at Lateral Load Path”, centered around helping younger structural engineers better comprehend the theory, principles, and real-world examples of lateral analysis.
NCSEA’s vision is to be recognized as the leading advocate for the practice of structural engineering and serves the needs of the structural engineering profession, its clientele, as well as architects, building code authorities, contractors, developers, licensing and registration boards, legislatures and regulatory agencies, professional and trade organizations, and public news media.
Matt has worked in structural engineering consulting for over 21 years. His experience as a structural engineer on the west coast prior to joining MBJ included structural design and detailing requirements for high seismic regions and his portfolio of projects includes educational, hospitality, medical, commercial office and existing building renovations. As a principal and technical director, Matt oversees MBJ’s standards development and implementation and is involved with the firm’s quality assurance and quality control processes.
