Solar Array Support

Meyer Borgman Johnson has designed solar array support systems and performed qualifying structural building and site analyses for more than 575 projects (encompassing 45+ MW DC of installed energy production) across the country. We have designed supports for roof and ground mounts, car ports, and architectural canopies, ranging in size from 2 KW to more than 1.5 MW. Some sites can be quite challenging, yet more than 95% of the time, we are able to successfully mount the array. Whenever possible, we use non-penetrating ballast configurations to lower project costs and sometimes our structural support design influences the manufacturer’s array design. On several projects, we were able to reduce the number of steel girders and purlins supporting an array by working with the manufacturer to design racking systems that span greater distances, saving both labor and materials costs.
