Overview

The Astor at Osborn residential complex and parking garage is part of a mixed-use development on the corner of 7th Avenue and Osborn. The 191-unit residential building is a 5-story wood structure on post-tensioned slab on grade that wraps around a central courtyard with a swimming pool and multiple site structures. An innovative vertical wood truss system was used to limit the structural steel tonnage for the balcony framing. A 5-story 277-stall precast parking garage sits adjacent to the wood structure and is separated by an expansion joint. Of the multiple foundation options that were studied for the parking garage, drilled piers were ultimately selected as the most economical and constructible choice.
