Overview

The Van Buren Land Port of Entry is part of a larger contract with the U.S. General Services Administration and one of several LPOEs for which MBJ has provided structural services. This new complex consists of three buildings, totaling approximately 41,000 square feet. Structural features include long span canopies that provide shelter between buildings and roofs designed to withstand loads based on an annual snowfall of 110 inches per year. Because the delivery of this project uses a bridging-design-build method, the team was exceptionally thorough in documentation of the project and maintaining the schedule. The project is designed to meet both GSA Design Excellence and LEED Silver criteria.
