Principals Dan Murphy and Jerod Hoffman recently gave presentations at the NASCC Conference held in Phoenix, AZ, April 1-4, 2009.
Dan used an interactive forum to speak on ethics in business and the construction industry. His presentation highlighted the benefits to businesses of enforcing a formal code of ethics in the workplace and employing a policy of integrity toward employees and clients.
Jerod's presentation focused on key communication processes and techniques among design engineers, fabricators, and steel detailers, including what the industry standard (AISC's Code of Standard Practice) requires. He recommended increasing the use of online meeting tools, transferring 3D images during the RFI process, and allowing the engineer of record to virtually review the model and shop drawings.
Also during the conference, both Dan and Jerod participated in a round table discussion on virtual construction within the steel industry, including BIM, interoperability, and integrated practice.
E-mail Dan or Jerod for more information or if you are interested in having either of them present on these topics to your organization.
